Caffeinated Clint
Indie film regular Greta Gerwig (“Arthur”, “Lola Versus”, “Frances Ha”) will headline CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off, according to Deadline.
“How I Met Your Father”, which will air shortly after “Mother” wraps, won’t have any connection to its antecedent – besides the bar setting, according to the grapevine – aside from the fact it chronicles the back-story of how a youthful New Yorker meets the love of – in this case – her life. Gerwig will play Sally, a young woman who doesn’t know what she wants – aside from not wanting to grow up.
CBS had been courting Gerwig for a while, and seemingly enticed her with a promise that she have some sort of creative control over the direction of the show. The actress will also be an executive producer and writer on the show.
Ideally, the show will leave another room in Gerwig’s schedule to fit in an indie film here and there. Would be a shame to lose her from the Nova.
