He's never "Bean" to "Hogwarts" though?

“Mr Bean” heading to Hogwarts? Sounds wacky – but very possible, considering Rowan Atkinson slummed it in “Scooby Doo” there a couple of years back. The rumour surfaces at The Z Review where Atkinson – according to the site – is up for the role of Voldemort.

Ok, everybody may be talking at the moment about the filming of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, well it appears that Warner Brothers are looking a bit further ahead to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As readers of the book know Voldemort does not come back to life until this book, and until then he is nothing more than a ghost. Well Warner Brothers have obvioulsy been thinking about this and realised it might be about time to get an actor signed up to the role. And can you guess who that name is that they are in talks with to play, probably the most crucial role in the movie after Harry Potter himself, is going to be? None other than Rowan Atkinson.

I know a lot of people might be calling this idle speculation, but our informant is VERY close to the production. I personally think it’s an inspired casting, if they can get him to sign on. Many of us will still remember him as Blackadder and that character’s delicious nastiness. I feel it would not be much of a leap for him to play Voldemort. Yes he has played nothing but silly roles for years, but this part could be something for him to really get his teeth into.

In other casting news our tipster reveals that discussions are taking place to sign up Richard (One Foot in the Grave) Wilson as Frank Bryce, and for those who haven’t read the books, Bryce is the old gardener that Voldemort kills at the start of the book
