Hi Ho, Silver Away!….Seriously, Away!

I love a good Western. I’m there front row centre even when others are not. Hey, I sat through Costner’s "Wyatt Earp" at the hardtop, have watched "Young Guns" over an dover again, can proudly say I own special edition DVD copies of "High Noon" and "The Wild Bunch" in my disc collection – and wait anxiously to see what they do with the new "Alamo" movie thats in the works. Now, another old classic is getting renovated.

According to Aint it Cool, classic TV series "The Lone Ranger" is riding back into town, with David Peoples [Bladerunner] penning the screenplay. Hmmm…could be possible.

Here’s what the 4filmmakers website has in terms of storyline for the mooted film :

"Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto. He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evildoers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from one of his slain brothers — the same mine that affords him his endless supply of trademark silver bullets."

Kurt Russell perhaps? Colin Farrell? [Then again, do they want another "American Outlaws" on their hands? James Caviezel? James Van Der….hey, enough with the tomatoes!

Clints Bits – 7/5

"Dawn" write it off just yet!
