Homer poem gets Bondarchuk treatment

Warner Bros’ has secured a director for its big budgeted poem adaptation “Odysseus”.

Russian filmmaker Fedor Bondarchuk will helm the pic that is based on Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey”.

Jeremy Doner is penning the screenplay. The poem centres on the Greek hero Odysseus who is held captive for 10 years following his return from the Trojan War. The poem also follows his wife, Penelope, who fights off suitors at home.

Bondarchuk’s production company Art Pictures Studio confirmed the news on Wednesday.
