Hong Kong Phooey has a director!

Update! : The Hollywood Reporter adds that “Family Guy” scribe David Goodman will write the project!

Alex Zamm (“Inspector Gadget 2″, ”Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts”) will graduate to fully-fledged big-screen blockbusters as the director of Alcon Entertainment’s “Hong Kong Phooey”.

The project is an adaptation of the 1970s Hanna-Barbera animated TV series, about a police station janitor who becomes a dog with mystical powers, including the ability to do kung fu.

Alcon are the crowd that are currently bankrolling and co-producing The Hughes Bros’ “Book of Eli”.
