In Obvious News: Hasbro Wants a Transformers 4 (Updated)

Well, where’s the obvious police when you need them because this comes no surprise to no one. Given the cash cow that is Michael Bay’s “Transformers” films, Hasbro and Paramount want Michael Bay to make a fourth film of his transforming robots.

Deadline says that Hasbro is in “active discussions” with Paramount, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg about a fourth “Transformers”, CEO Brian Goldner told analysts in a conference call today. “Hopefully I’ll have more news for you next quarter,” he said.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” had a production budget of $195 million and domestically, the film collected $352 million and eventually became the tenth film to reach the billion dollar mark.

No word yet on whether Shia LaBeouf will return….but I’m sure for the right amount of money he will.

Update: Variety says that LaBeouf won’t be returning.

Update #2 (10/19): Michael Bay has posted the following note about this on his site.

I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I’m looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It’s a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy.
