24 is returning – with Kiefer Sutherland? Maybe?

On this morning’s conference call with reporters, Fox chairman Dana Walden confirmed plans for another iteration of “24”. Original duo Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran make up the brains trust on the next incarnation, which begs the question : will the newly-unemployed Kiefer Sutherland be returning?

With Sutherland’s “Designated Survivor” biting the dust at NBC, there’s a fairly good chance he’ll be approached – if he hasn’t already – to reprise his iconic Jack Bauer for the next instalment of “24”. Considering Bauer’s storyline was never really tied up, it’d be fairly easy to reintroduce the character to viewers, too.

Walden won’t say what form the new “24” will be taking – last year there was talk of a female-led version of the series – only that “we are very excited about where the show would go.”

In addition to “24”, Fox also confirmed today that another season of “Prison Break” is in development.
