Jared Leto in talks to join Bloodshot; Nicholas Hoult could play Tolkien

Musician and actor Jared Leto is reportedly in talks with Sony to join the film “Bloodshot”, which is the second film in a five-picture-deal with comic-book publisher Valiant Entertainment.

The first of the films in development in “Harbinger”, which is being produced by Neal Moritz and centres on a superhero Peter Stanchek called a ‘harbinger’. Harbingers have the potential to reshape the course of human history. The second film, “Bloodshot” sees protagonist Angelo Mortalli, a killer who works for the mob, set up by the family and framed for murder. After going into witness protection, Mortalli is forced into an experimental program in which his body is rebuilt to have superhuman strength and healing powers (via Deadline). Leto is currently in talks to play Mortalli.

Both “Harbinger” and “Bloodshot” will get sequels, before a 5th crossover movie is developed, based on Valient’s 2013 comic book crossover.

Nicholas Hoult is frontrunner to play author J.R.R. Tolkien in a biopic entiteled “Tolkien”. Tolkien penned the famous “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” novels, and the film will focus on his formative years. His experiences with frienship, love, artistic inspiration and his fellow group of outcasts at school was what ultimately inspired him to write the Middle Earth books he’s so famous for.

Finnish director Dome Karukoski is set to helm the movie, from a script written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford. Hoult’s involvement in the film is yet to be confirmed. News via Deadline.
