Updated! : Seems Statham will not be playing Bullseye in Netflix’s “Daredevil”. One source says it was totally BS to the begin with, while another says that Statham was in talks – until the rumour leaked and derailed the whole deal. Either way, it ain’t happening.

While it may seem like a step down for Jason Statham to do streaming/cable TV, let’s not forget that fellow A-listers Dwayne Johnson (“Ballers”), Mark Wahlberg (“Wahlbergers”) and Bradley Cooper (“Limitless”) have all donated their thespudial talents to television in recent months. As Billy Madison informs his classmates after he intentionally wets his pants to protect the feelings of a friend who unintentionally did, “it’s the coolest”. TV, that is.
Statham is apparently the gun that Netflix want to pack “Daredevil” Season 2 with. According to Latino Review, the star of money-spinning movie franchises “The Transporter”, “Fast & Furious 7” and “The Expendables” would play captain head tattoo – Bullseye (the character Colin Farrell played in the ill-fated 2003 movie).
The site says Statham, currently on screens in “Spy”, met with Marvel Studios this week about playing Matt Murdock’s nemesis on the next batch of episodes.
Statham would follow in the gigantic footsteps of Vincent D’Onofrio, who played the season one villain. Assumingly, D’Onofrio’s ‘Kingpin’ would be back for the second season too.
Interestingly enough, Statham was apparently set to star in a big screen reboot of “Daredevil” before the rights reverted to Marvel.
If Marvel can snag Statham for Bullseye, there’s no saying who they can lure to play Elektra (also said to be introduced next season). Gina Carano busy?
“Daredevil” returns to my Apple TV – probably yours too, though at this stage they’ve only confirmed that I’m getting it – early next year.
