After he’s done putting Bruce Willis through the paces on the “Death Wish” remake, Eli Roth’s going to play a part in Jim Carrey’s return to horror (he starred in “Ace Ventura : When Nature Calls” way back when. Joking. Referring to 2007’s “The Number 23”). The “Hostel” film will direct the funnyman in “Aleister Arcane”, based on the Steve Niles horror comic.
The flick, which Carrey will executive produce, tells of a local TV horror host Aleister Arcane, who’s forced off the air due to the wishes of parents in an Oklahoma community. In the wake of Arcane’s unplanned retirement, unexplained terror and horror beset the town.
“Aleister Arcane” has been in development for quite a long time, with Paramount first toying with the project in 2004.
No word on who Carrey – last seen in “Dumb and Dumber To” – will play in the film, but it’s likely that of the old man.
