A few months back, word trickled out that popular Aussie actor and TV host Shane Jacobson (“Kenny”) was in serious contention for a role in the Farrelly’s “Three Stooges” movie. Peter Farrelly told Moviehole at the time that he was immensely impressed with the towering funnyman. Alas, Jacobson was ultimately lost out, but nonetheless seems he’s landed on Hollywood’s radar.
A couple of weeks back Jacobson headed to New York where he begun filming “The Bourne Legacy”, the Tony Gilroy directed “Identity” spin-off starring Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz and Jeremy Renner.
He’s back home in Melbourne now, but continues filming in the New Year. Jacobson is playing ‘Mackie’, who we can tell you is said to be in his ’40s and is “a big tan Australian” that “manages a large facility in Asia”.
Seems the film will be filming quite a bit in Asia, with casting agents also on the hunt for a few burly guys to play Mackie’s ‘guards’ at the facility (a facility that ‘Bourne’, played by Jeremy Renner, seemingly breaks into). Jacobson is filming in both the US and Asia.
Jacobson spoke, albeit briefly with the Sydney Morning Herald today about the film.
”Contrary to what people are saying, Matt Damon has not been replaced,” Jacobson says. Instead, Jeremy Renner, who is rumoured to have taken over from Damon in the lead role, ”is a whole new character”. Jacobson was pressed for more details, but wouldn’t budge.
