EW has revealed our first look at the titular beast in “Kong: Skull Island” and he looks, well, very much the same as he always does.
However Kong enthusiasts will no doubt notice some differences, as director Jordan Vogt-Roberts explained:
“With Kong, there’s been obviously so many different versions of him in the past and ours needed to feel unique to our film. I had a mandate that I wanted a kid to be able to doodle him on the back of a piece of homework and for his shapes to be simple and hopefully iconic enough that, like, a third grader could draw that shape and you would know what it is. A big part of our Kong was I wanted to make something that gave the impression that he was a lonely God, he was a morose figure, lumbering around this island.”
“Kong: Skull Island” stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing from a script by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy and Derek Connolly which sees a team of explorers venture deep inside the mysterious and dangerous home of the titular ape.
“Kong: Skull Island” will debut on arch 10, 2017.
