Kirsten Wiig and Guy Pearce are pulling their indie boots on with a new dramedy, “Hateship, Friendship”.
THR says the pair will start alongside Hailee Steinfeld and Nick Nolte under Liza Johnson’s direction – she’s most known for helming the indie film “Return” in 2011.
It’s based on a short story by Alice Munro called “Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage”. Another of Munro’s stories was adapted into “Away From Her” in 2006, starring Julie Christie.
Here’s the plot rundown: Steinfeld plays a teenager who orchestrates a relationship with her nanny (Wiig) and her father (Pearce) who is a recovering addict living elsewhere. Nick Nolte plays Steinfeld’s maternal grandfather who blames Pearce’s character for the death of his daughter.
This is due to start filming as early as next week in New Orleans. Sounds good!
