Kung Fury movie sequel a go with Alien star

Retro ’80s short “Kung Fury”, which made the excitable leap from niche crowd-funding project to the Cannes Film Festival, is getting a feature-length sequel starring Michael Fassbender.

Per Variety, the “Assassin’s Creed” and “Alien Covenant” star will join original star and creator, David Sandberg, who reprises his role as the titular hero. David Hasselhoff, who also appeared in the short, is expected to return.

A homage to classic martial arts films, “Kung Fury” tells of a Kung Fu Cowboy Cop who, during an unfortunate series of events, loses nearly his entire precinct to the most dangerous kung fu master criminal of all time; Adolf Hitler, a.k.a Kung Führer. Because of being hit by lightning and being bitten by a cobra, which would have killed any normal human, Kung Fury has become a kung fu master and a threat to Hitler’s power. Kung Fury decides to travel back in time, to Nazi Germany, in order to kill Hitler and end the Nazi empire once and for all.

“Kung Fury” (watch it below) was a part of the “Director’s Fortnight” section of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
