Leads in Uncle Buck, Rush Hour announced

John Foo (“Tekken”) will play Detective Lee, the role played by Jackie Chan in the “Rush Hour” movies, in the CBS TV adaptation of the same name.

Written/executive produced by Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick and directed/exec produced by Jon Turteltaub (“National Treasure”), the “pilot centers on Lee (Foo), a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer assigned to a case in Los Angeles, where he’s forced to work with a cocky black LAPD officer, Carter (originally played by Chris Tucker), who has no interest in a partner. A top detective with the Hong Kong police department, Detective Lee is a dedicated professional and master martial artist, a man of few words who knows how to get the job done.”

Meanwhile, Mike Epps (“All About the Benjamins”, “Ride Along”) will play the title character in ABC’s “Uncle Buck”. Based on the movie of the same name, the Universal TV project “centers on Buck Russell (Epps), a childish man who learns how to be an adult by taking care of his brother Will’s kids in a very childish way.” Nia Long (“Boyz N’ The Hood”) will play Will’s wife.

Unlike the film and previous TV incarnation, this version was conceived with an African-American cast in mind.
