League of Extraordinary "Akira" writers

Finally some movement on the live-action adaptation of toon classic “Akira”. According to JoBlo, “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” scribe James Robinson is joining Stephen Norrington to pen the screenplay. “Prior to his work adapting Alan Moore’s graphic novel, Robinson had limited work in movies with the direct-to-video release “Comic Book Villains” being his most notable”, says the site. “Granted, the Akira story is not one that’s immediately commercial and considering the size of the budget, I can see how WB is anxious to insure they’ll make back their dollar. Hopefully that can be done without compromising too much of Otomo’s original vision”.
