Legendary Pictures to pick up He-Man?

And one totally twisted far-out casting rumour!

Legendary Pictures may have snapped up the rights to “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, according to The Sun Online.

Bryan Singer’s crowd are also apparently touting Brad Pitt (wasn’t he going to play “Captain America” at one stage, too? Too funny!) to wear the shield and panties.

“They are very keen on Brad for the role. He’ll have to bulk up though — he’s very fit but not to He-Man proportions”, an insider tells the newspaper.

Gerard Butler (“300”) is also apparently in the mix.

Ok, to answer some of your emails… Now, just because my producing partner Chris Showerman was being touted as one of the “He-Man” contenders there for a while, doesn’t mean I know anything about this – I don’t; so I can’t say whether it’s true or not. I’m guessing some of it might be.

For the record, Showerman was someone banded about in the ‘John Woo’ days; he may still be in the mix, but I’ve heard nothing. Personally, I think the Sun item stinks of fluff. Legendary may indeed be looking at picking up the property, but I can’t see Brad Pitt playing the lead. No frickin’ way.

When John Woo was attached to the project – he was either going to produce or direct; or both – there were several names tipped for the lead; including The Rock, Triple H, Paul Walker, Matthew Davis and the abovementioned Showerman. I assume, and I again I could be wrong, that that list has been thrown out with the old regiment.
Fox 2000 previously optioned the property – but they wiped their hands clean off the film last year. But… Brad Pitt???

As far as I know, the only guy still on the project is the screenwriter, Adam Rifkin (“Small Soldiers”).
