Linklater fits the Bill

“Dazed and Confused” helmer Richard Linklater is bringing comedian Bill Hicks’ story to the big screen.

The Focus Features biopic which tell of the comic, social satirist and musician’s life and career, both of which ended abruptly at the age of 32 when Hicks died of pancreatic cancer.

Linklater and Hicks both hailed from Texas. The filmmaker, whose next film “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, opens March 2019, grew up loving Hicks’s work.

A stand-up comedian, social satirist and musician who developed a cult following, Hicks died of pancreatic cancer in 1994 at the age of 32. He got his start doing comedy in Texas, where he became associated with the Texas Outlaw Comics group at the Comedy Workshop in Houston in the 1980s. Linklater, a Texas native, grew up loving his work.
