Lucy Lawless joins Ash vs Evil Dead

Starz has tapped Lucy Lawless to join the cast of its “Ash vs Evil Dead”.

The series is a follow up to “The Evil Dead” film franchise and will see Bruce Campbell reprise his role as Ash, the chainsaw-handed monster hunter, while Lawless will take on the role of Ruby.

The show will centre on Ash, who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

So, where does Ruby come into all this? Ruby is a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks, which she believes is caused by Ash.

Ray Santiago (Pablo Simon Bolivar), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell) and Jill Marie Jones (Amanda Fisher) also star in the show which will film on location in New Zealand this spring.

The series will feature 10 half-hour episodes which will premiere on Starz later this year.
