Lussier directs Halloween 3D

I’m sure Clint would much rather be writing this news item, and I’m guessing he knows much more about the film in question than the trades do (since he’s producing a film with the director), but since he’s laid up today – recovering from being hit by a car (!) I’m going to fill in for a few.

But before we start, can I ask just Clint please not to jump in front of any more cars… no matter how many kids run in front of them?… See, he makes this news writing business look effortless, I’d hate to think one of us schmucks would have to do it permanently because his typing hand had been squished between a hood and a bumper. Selfish, I know – but it’s true! This shit takes work!

But for what it’s worth, well done man! It’s a very heroic thing to jump in front of a car for a kid – especially if it’s not even your kid! He tells me he’s OK just a bit ”sore and shaken”… but I’m betting by about Thursday he’s cursing a little more (“Could I grab a *fuck* coffee, love?”). Hopefully that kid he saves grows up to be a wealthy entrepreneur who’ll wish to finance Clint’s future internet endeavors. Least he could do, right?

Anyway, to the news in question. Filmmaker Patrick Lussier (“My Bloody Valentine 3-D”, “Dracula 2000”) is in negotiations to write and direct the third “Halloween” movie – the 3-D one you’ve been hearing about. I don’t know how official this is, and just because it’s on Variety doesn’t mean jack shit any more (since they seem to be just robbing stories from sites like Moviehole and Bloody Disgusting), but the way it sounds, if Bob and Harvey don’t go into hiding sometime between now and Christmas, Lussier’s the man to sharpen Michael Myers’ knife third-time ‘round.

Lussier’s becoming quite the go-to guy for 3D. His “My Bloody Valentine 3D” has not only changed his career, but the landscape of film in general – now suddenly everyone wants to do a 3-D movie. And I assume that everyone now wants Patrick Lussier to direct ‘their’ 3-D movie – as seems to be the case with “Halloween 3D”.
But he’s also got his own 3-D movie up, “Drive Angry”, starring Nicolas Cage. Set to go before the cameras in April.
Patrick’s attached to direct Clint & Joel Soisson’s “Condition Dead 3D” too – and that’s going to be superb, I tell ya (The script is killer!). I don’t know what’s happening first – this, “Drive Angry” or “Condition Dead”… but Patrick’s sure going to be busy over the next year… I sure hope he doesn’t suddenly yearn to drop horror and do a musical starring Zac Efron.
