Magnum P.I, Cagney & Lacey and Charmed are officially coming back!

Two of the ‘80s biggest dramas are returning to the air, with a ‘90s favourite also locked in for a second go-round.

As per previous reports, CBS is bringing both “Magnum P.I” and “Cagney & Lacey” back. Though promoted as ‘reboots’, the new incarnations would seem to have no connection to their predecessors. The new “Magnum” for instance, will be a “decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator” with ‘Higgins’ now a female. Eric Guggenheim and Peter M. Lenkov spearhead the redo – which will no doubt bet met with gloomy pessimism by purists.

Meanwhile, Bridget Carpenter’s revamp of “Cagney & Lacey” is a go with CBS TV Studios and MGM Television resurrecting the police procedural that started Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless.

‘90s series “Charmed” is also back. “Casper” director Brad Silberling will Direct and executive produce the new version, which will again tell of three young women who discover they’re witches. The reboot was originally on The CW’s to-do list last year but was pushed back. The original pilot was set in the ‘70s, the latest incarnation is set in the modern day.

The original stars have let it be known there none too happy about the show coming back (without them).
