Man of Steel moves to Cracktown

Routh doing film based on Giovinazzo novel

Stop the unemployment check! Cancel the case manager appointment! The actor formerly known as ‘Superman’ has found work!

Brandon Routh, best known as the ‘Lucky Strike Bowling Alley’ employee cum big-screen superstar, is set to follow “Superman Returns” with something, well, not quite as big.

Routh tells readers on his official site that “I’m currently filming a small role in Life is Hot in Cracktown, based on Buddy Giovinazzo’s novel by the same name. This role allowed me the opportunity to stretch and play against type, while not carrying an entire film on my shoulders as such an extreme character. There’s also a great romantic comedy that I’m involved in right now; we’re just waiting for the greenlight. In addition to that, there’s a small independent drama that we’re in the process of finding the female lead for. I’m very excited about these projects coming together.”

“Life is Hot in Cracktown” is also directed by Giovianazzo; it co-stars Michael Rappaport, Kerry Washington and Illeana Douglas.

Routh was also rumoured for a role (albeit, a cameo role) in the currently-lensing “Harold & Kumar” sequel, but no word whether that actually came off or not.
