Marlon Wayans will star in “Super Bad James Dynomite”, a film based on the comic book by the Wayans’ boys themselves.
According to Variety, Rogue optioned the comic, which was created and written by Marlon and brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans.
Dynomite is an inner-city antihero reminiscent of blaxploitation staples Shaft, Dolemite and Black Belt Jones. Framed by a rival and sent away for a long prison stretch, he returns hopelessly out of step. He must regain his cool and try to take down the man who framed him.
Rogue presidents Andrew Karpen and Andrew Rona made the deal with hopes that the film will start production later this year.
“When we created the comicbook, I always envisioned playing the title character on the bigscreen,” said Marlon Wayans.
