Marvel may recast Hawkeye for Avengers 2

Marvel’s wrongdoings may led to [yet another] a facelift for one of cinema’s superheroes.

Jeremy Renner, who played ‘Hawkeye’ in “The Avengers” (and briefly, “Thor”), may leave the role behind because of a disappointing experience on the Joss Whedon directed blockbuster. Seems – and he’s in his right, I gotta say – Renner didn’t take too kindly to having his superhero character playing ‘robot’ to the evil Loki for the film’s duration. Renner commented about the experience to Total Film, and as a result, ComicBookMovie says the studio may be nixing Renner from the next movie.

“For 90% of the movie, I’m not the character I signed on to play,” Renner told the magazine. “It’s kind of a vacancy. [He’s] not even a bad guy, because there’s not really a consciousness to him.”

“To take away who that character is and just have him be this robot, essentially, and have him be this minion for evil that Loki uses… I was limited, you know what I mean? I was a terminator in a way. Fun stunts. But is there any sort of emotional content or thought process? No.”

ComicBookMovie’s source say that there’s a good chance Hawkeye will be recast – following Renner’s stance on things – for “The Avengers 2”. And if that happens, Whedon will likely utilize the new actor in his new show “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”, too. In other words, won’t be no Leonardo Di Caprio-sized mega-star taking over for Renner… try someone cheaper, someone more open to a supporting gig on TV each week (James Marsters busy?).

“The Avengers 2”, which may or may not see most of the original cast return (the others are currently fighting for more money), is due 2015.
