Anna Faris transfers her hilarious big screen shtick (email me to argue) to the small screen in a new sitcom from the makers of – and don’t let this put you off – “Two-and-a-Half Men.”
Joined by “West Wing” alum Allison Janney, Faris plays Christy, a recovering alcoholic and single mother who decides to start afresh in Napa, California. Her mother Bonnie (Janney), also a recovering alcoholic, is her only real friend. In between waitressing and attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Christy’s trying to be the best mother she can do to 17-year-old daughter Violet (Sadie Calvano).
The humour is to be found both in Faris’ performance and the hilarious ways Christy deals with her problems. No, it’s not ‘sitcom of the year!’ but it’s a lot more endurable than the aforesaid “Half Men”.
