More Bat-News : Cranston as Lex? No! Damon talks Batfleck! Freeman back as Fox?

Since Batfleck was announced, the internet’s sole purpose seems to be digging up as much information about either how that came about… or anything else about the “Man of Steel” sequel that Ben will make his Caped Crusader debut in.

Here’s the latest bits and pieces swirling about.

Matt Damon backs Ben as Batman

Ben Affleck’s long-time buddy and “Good Will Hunting” co-star says he’ll be great. “I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the internet. I just think it’s kind of funny.” He continued, “You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw Argo or The Town, and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that.” (Times of India)

Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor? Nope!

Despite rumours that the “Breaking Bad” star had been cast as Superman’s nemesis (in a deal reportedly stretching over 10 films!), seems there’s no truth to that one at this stage.
Having said that, after watching this fan-made trailer for the movie, with Cranston as Luthor, the man has our vote!

Morgan Freeman returning as Lucius Fox? Unlikely

Freeman is happy for his “Sum of All Fears” co-star Ben Affleck, and believes he’ll make a good Batman. “This is the first I am hearing of it. My first reactions are ‘Wow’ and ‘Good luck’,” said the actor. “After the trilogy, I thought that no one would try it again for a few years more to let this whole thing die down, because it’s still there. So I don’t know, I hope Ben does well.”
Freeman doubts he’ll reprise his role from Nolan’s ‘Batman’ films for this new one. “If the new movie does have a Lucius Fox I don’t think it’s going to be me,” said Freeman. “It doesn’t seem to work to mix characters in the movies. If you are going to change the lead character, you’re probably going to change all the characters.” (USA Today)

Affleck’s deal includes multiple Batman films

Affleck will play Batman in films beyond “Man of Steel 2”. The actor is contracted to appear in multiple movies, including sequels to “Man of Steel”, “Batman” movies and of course, “Justice League”, which teams Batman with fellow Superfriends including Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and so on.
