Netflix culls Gypsy after 1 season

Netflix’s drama “Gypsy” won’t be returning to the streaming service, after they canned it after 1 season. The Naomi Watts psychological thriller developed a good fan base but was also deemed as rotten on Rotton Tomatoes, leading to Netflix not taking up a second season.

The show followed the exploits of psychologist Jean Holloway (Watts) as she gets way too involved in her patient’s lives, leading to distance between herself and her husband (Billy Crudup) and an affair with a local barista and ex-girlfriend of a patient (Sophie Cookson).

Deadline reports that Netflix opted not to take up a second instalment of the thriller, which despite all other reviews depicted a great performance by Watts. The news comes after women’s wrestling comedy “GLOW” got renewed for a second season.

“Gypsy” was written by Lisa Rubin and also starred Lucy Boynton and Karl Glusma.
