New Han Solo to be announced in two weeks

While Harrison Ford will always be our Han Solo, Phil Lord & Chris Miller will get an alternative version when they shoot their “Star Wars” spin-off shortly. The flick, a prequel to “A New Hope” that’ll fix on the Millennium Falcon pilot’s younger years, is slated for a March 25, 2018 release.

Lucasfilm, along with the abovesaid “21 Jump Street” helmers, have been testing quite a few young cats for the role of Chewbacca’s bud with Variety letting slip some of the names that have met with Kathleen Kennedy and co in recent times.

While we’ve heard most of these names linked to the part previously, the fact that we’re seeing those names repeated suggests that they’re in with a boosty shot.

The versatile Miles Teller (“Footloose”, “Whiplash”), Ansel Elgort (“The Fault in Our Stars”), Dave Franco (from Lord & Miller’s “21 Jump Street”), Jack Reynor (”Transformers: Age of Extinction”), Scott Eastwood (”The Longest Ride”, “Diablo”), Logan Lerman (”The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, “Fury”), Emory Cohen (”Brooklyn”) and Blake Jenner (”Everybody Wants Some”) are said to be on the contenders list.

The studio will look at some others, before making their decision in a couple of weeks.

The report indicates that the new Solo may cameo in the upcoming “Star Wars” spin-off “Rogue One”, due out at the end of the year.

So, whaddyathink folks? I don’t know about you but I think I’d much rather see a fresh face – like Cohen or Jenner – than someone with a more familiar face and filmish baggage like Franco or Elgort.
