Updated! Original Star Wars movies headed to AMC Cinemas & Netflix?

Return of the Jedi

Update! : No “Star Wars” for Netflix, the company tells Exstreamist.

Twitter was responsible today for prematurely announcing a pre-“Force Awakens” run of the original “Star Wars” movie series at not only theaters but on Netflix.

AMC Cinemas mistakenly posted a Tweet alerting followers to an upcoming bigscreen re-issue of the first six “Star Wars” movies. But when you clicked the link – for more info – attached to the tweet, it brought up an error page. Seems to me that the films are indeed going to be running at AMC cinemas before the release of “The Force Awakens” on December 18 – but someone let the cat out of the bag too early.

Same case with Netflix who, Exstreamist discovered had made backend pages for the original “Star Wars” films – likely in preparation for their arrival on the platform. Now maybe Netflix simply make pages for any and every film, in the case they pick them up sometime and therefore there mightn’t be anything in this, but considering the popularity of Netflix right now… there’s a good chance that Fox is considering releasing them on the streaming service.
