Original troupe back for Mighty Ducks TV series

A new TV series based on the classic “Mighty Ducks” films is in the works.

It’s early days for the project, says THR, but screenwriter Steven Brill (writer of the film trilogy) and producer Jordan Kerner are spearheading the project, suggesting the series may be connected to the films in some way.

Though ABC Signature Studios are producing the project, the series doesn’t yet have a home. The trade says to expect a Disney affiliate to pick it up.

The original 1992 film, directed by Stephen Herek and starring Emilio Estevez, Lane Smith and a then-unknown Josh Jackson, was followed by two sequels and an animated TV series.
