Prison Break Season 6 in the works!

When “Prison Break” co-stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller reunited on the set of “The Flash” a couple of years ago – they play comrades on the CW series and later reprised the Captain Cold and Heatwave roles for spin-off “Legends of Tomorrow” – they swiftly started pondering the idea of hitting up Fox with the idea of relaunching their long-time bread-and-butter series. Easy cell, er, sell it seems. “Prison Break” hadn’t been on for a while, and the last season of the one-time Nielsen’s hit wasn’t all that crash hot, but the actors believed a tighter, more compact season – consisting of only half-a-dozen or so episodes – would help give the ‘breakout’ drama its solid bars again. And they were onto something.

The limited return series, which aired earlier this year, garnered as many good reviews as it did viewers and Fox is ostensibly happy enough with the result to do more.

Purcell posted this on Instagram today, suggest a sixth season of the show is on the way :

If the whole gang are getting back together, then expect series fave Robert Knepper – who plays Teabag on the series – to be part of it. Knepper’s career was struck a bit of a blow this year when some disturbing sexual harassment claims were made against his name. Reports today say Knepper has been found of no wrongdoing and his job – particularly his regular gig on “iZombie” – is safe.

Expect also to see Sarah Wayne Callies, Amaury Nolasco, and Rockmond Dunbar return. William Fichtner didn’t return for the most recent season but we can hold out hope for a Mahone reprise for the sixth.

“Prison Break” first hit the air in August of 2005 becoming a ratings bonanza for Fox.
