Rami Malek to play Freddie Mercury in Queen movie; X-Men director to helm

“Mr. Robot” star Rami Malek is set to play Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody”, a film about the iconic British band.

Bryan Singer is also in talks to direct the film which has a script by Anthony McCarten.

The film is being developed by 20th Century Fox and New Regency, with original producer Graham King and his GK Films. Jim Beach will also produce and Denis O’Sullivan will exec producer. Original Queen bandmembers Brian May and Roger Taylor will serve as music producers.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” will likely lens next year.
