James Franco’s 250th contribution to the 2013 film slate is “Sal”, a biopic of “Rebel Without a Cause” actor Sal Mineo. Flick historians will recall Mineo, a star on the rise, was murdered at age 37.
The “This is the End” actor directed the picture, and co-wrote it. Val Lauren plays Mineo, with a plethora of newcomers and unseasoned film stars filling the support parts, including “True Blood” regular Jim Parrack.
The pic hits VOD in November, then gets a brief theatrical a month later.
