Ren will we know the truth!? Now!

There’s been stout speculation for months now on just where Adam Driver’s “Force Awakens” character Kylo Ren fits into the picture.

Though known to be the villain of the December release, fans still aren’t sure whether the lightsaber-wielding rogue is a sith or some sort of newly-sanctioned scum.

In a new interview with Empire, director J.J Abrams confirmed that Ren is not a sith. “Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”

(In other words, Serkis’s Snoke is the Emperor of the movie, and Ren is the Darth Vader).

Abrams told Entertainment Weekly that Ren belongs to a “group called the Knights of Ren. The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it’s from, but the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask. [Kylo Ren] is well aware of what’s come before, and that’s very much a part of the story of the film.”

Abrams says the villainous group were somewhat inspired by the Nazis.

“That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again?’” Abrams told Empire. “What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?”

It’s possible that Ren’s real last name is Solo, with Han Solo being the guy’s father. Reports suggest that Solo and Princess Leia had a falling out after “Return of the Jedi”, at which time Solo went off with another woman and they reproduced.

(Another rumour suggests that Daisy Ridley’s character is actually Solo’s offspring… so obviously take the above with a grain of salt).

In other “Star Wars” news, “Hannibal” star Mads Mikkelsen said he’s not playing a villain in his “Star Wars” movie, “Rogue One”.madsthumb

“It is a very important role, as much I can say,” Mikkelsen tells StarWars7news, “No, my character is actually not a bad guy, and then I can not say more. I can also say that the movie will be shot in Iceland and England. And the filming will last for three months.”
