Dimension has skedded “Amityville” – previously titled “The Amityville Horror : The Lost Tapes” – for a January 2, 2015 release. For those without a numbers sheet on the back of their loo, that’s near exactly a year away.
Either because it’s trendy, or because studios realize they’re bloody cheap to produce, the flick will be one of those ‘found footage’ flicks.
Here’s the official synopsis :
An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror … only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.
Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands write and direct the film, which is said to be somewhat of a prequel and sequel to the original.
The last ‘Amityville’ flick in theaters was the Ryan Reynolds/Melissa George-starring reboot of the ’70s classic, which scared up moderate box office in 2005.
