Ron Howard in talks to direct Neil Gaiman’s Graveyard Book

Ron Howard is in talks to direct Disney’s “Graveyard Book”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The “Rush” director would bring to the screen a beloved tale written by famed novelist Neil Gaiman. Henry Selick, of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” fame, was originally attached to direct a feature film version of the kids’ novel – and in his trademark stop-motion – but that incarnation fell through.

The book tells of a boy named Nobody Owens who is raised by ghosts in a cemetery after his family is murdered. When he is a teen, he is pursued again by his family’s killer, a being called “the Man Jack.”

Howard’s film, a live-actioner, will have Gil Netter (“Marley & Me”) serving as producer.

The filmmaker’s next flick is race-car flick “Rush”, starring Chris Hemsworth.
