Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron up for Star Wars?

Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron are said to be on Lucasfilm’s wish-list for “Star Wars Episode 7”, according to the scooping Skywalkers over at Latino Review.

The site, who previously mentioned Jonathan Rhys-Meyers name in relation to a leading role in the J.J Abrams directed “Return of the Jedi” follow-up, says Lucasfilm are working their way down a list – a list that was topped by the name ‘Leonardo DiCaprio’!

Yep, friggin’ Di Caprio!

DiCaprio even took a meeting with Lucasfilm and director Abrams to discuss the possibilities of weaving Gatsby into the Wars-verse. It’s not happening – reportedly because Leo wants to develop his own science-fiction franchise, based on the toon series “Robotech” – but the fact that the studio’s shooting so high suggests we wonder have another Jake Lloyd situation on our hands come 2015. Episode VII might indeed be irritation-free.

Ryan Gosling, who usually shies away from blockbusters, is currently being courted. He’s up for the role of Luke Skywalker’s son. Quite a good match, I’d say, and an actor that could bring it in both the performance and physical stakes. But again, this guy doesn’t usually jump at blockbusters, so it might be hard to convince him to wield a lightsaber.

Also said to be on Lucasfilm’s radar? Zac Efron, the former Disney Channel fave who has since gone on to star in weightier flicks like “Any Given Price” and “The Paperboy”. The site speculates that he could be playing the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia, but can’t say for sure.

I’m loving the sound of “Star Wars Episode VII” so far, how about you!?
