Scarface is getting a rewrite

“Straight Outta Compton” scribe Jonathan Herman has boarded Universal’s “Scarface” remake to rewrite the screenplay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Herman will go over the previous drafts by Paul Attanasio and David Ayer.

The new movie is a remake of the original films from 1932 and 1983.

The 83 version centres on Cuban refugee Tony Montana who arrives in 1980s Miami with nothing and rises up to become a powerful drug kingpin.

This remake will be tell a new story, set in LA, about an immigrant’s rise in the criminal underworld.
