Sequel to The Accountant in the works

Ben Affleck is set to hang up the Batman costume and don some specks, as Warner Bros are mobilising a sequel to 2016’s “The Accountant”.

Sources tell Deadline that “screenwriter Bill Dubuque, director Gavin O’Connor and Ben Affleck are in talks to return, along with the producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams.”

Once the deals are worked out, the story can be fleshed out and will likely include Jon Bernthal’s character. “The Accountant” saw Affleck as a high-functioning autistic accountant, who ran a very lucrative sideline accounting business for criminal organisations.

There’s no word on the other cast of the original film returning as yet, but it’s early days. It would be good to see Anna Kendrick, J.K Simmons and  Alison Wright back on board. And while “The Accountant” didn’t break any box office records, it’s a completely original story that could be good for the industry in amongst all the super hero flicks, reboots and collaborations.

In the meantime, you can next see Affleck as Batman in “Justice League”.
