Sharon Tate’s sister has something to say about The Haunting of Sharon Tate

Yesterday the news was revealed that Hilary Duff was to play Sharon Tate in the upcoming film “The Haunting of Sharon Tate”, based on the Charles Manson murders in which Tate was viciously murdered in 1969.

Duff has shared a picture of herself online, speaking of the honour it has been to play the actress, stating “Had the incredible opportunity of playing Sharon Tate the past two weeks in an independent movie. She was an amazing woman and it was a true honor.”

However, not everyone is happy about the film, with Tate’s sister Debra speaking out against the upcoming flick, calling it “classless” and “exploitative”. In an interview with People Magazine, Tate stated: “It doesn’t matter who it is acting in it – it’s just tasteless. It’s classless how everyone is rushing to release something for the 50th anniversary of this horrific event.”

She further commented on the idea that Sharon had a eery dream before her death, which was later said to be almost a ‘premonition’ of how she died.

“I know for a fact she did not have a premonition — awake or in a dream — that she and Jay [Sebring, Sharon’s boyfriend] would have their throat cut. I checked with all of her living friends. None of her friends had any knowledge of this. Tacky, tacky, tacky. It’s a total fabrication.”

Debra went on to say that she “owns” the rights to her sister’s likeness, and that no one asked for her permission for the film.

It wouldn’t be the first time a family member has gotten upset about an upcoming film, but only time will tell if Tate will go to any lengths to stop the production.
