Shirley Temple Black, a former child star who set the world’s hearts on fire with her cuter-than-cute turns in the ’30s, has died at the age of 85.
The curly-haired film-star, then credited as Shirley Temple, was cinema’s top draw-card from 1935 to 1938. The height of her fame was at age 7, at which time she headlined such classics as “Curly Top”, “Little Miss Marker” and “Bright Eyes”.
Retiring at 21 from film (after making about 40 movies) for a role in politics, Black remained devoted to Washington until her later years.
Shirley Temple Black passed away, surrounded by family, at her home near San Francisco.
