With all the talk of the “Prometheus” sequel, now said to be titled “Alien : Paradise Lost” (so that people, er, are keen enough to see it), one might suppose that Neill Blomkamp’s presumed “Alien” movie – the one that has Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley in it – might’ve fallen by the wayside. Not so, according to producer (and “Paradise Lost” helmer) Ridley Scott, who seems to think the film will be in theaters as soon as 2017.
“We have Neill Blomkamp’s Alien, which will be out in 2017,” Scott tells the Daily Beast. “We just have the first [screenplay] draft in so far but it looks pretty good.”
Considering the film is merely in the draft phase, and there’s been no production dates set, it’d be a bit of a rush job getting it into cinemas by 2017.
Scott’s “Alien : Paradise Lost” is due out in 2017, so it would be terrific to get Blomkamp’s Weaver-Michael Biehn reunion around the same time but I suspect it’ll be further down the track.
