Simon Kinberg & Neill Blomkamp board The Leviathan

Following last week’s striking proof-of-concept trailer, writer/producer Simon Kinberg and writer/director Neill Blomkamp have boarded “The Leviathan” as producer and exec producer respectively.

The trailer blew up last week scoring nearly 2 million views on Vimeo and Youtube and apparently Kinberg and Blomkamp were among a host of big name producers to approach filmmaker Ruairi Robinson about the project.

Jim Uhls wrote the script to the film about pilots who are involuntarily drafted to take to the skies and hunt giant whale-like flying creatures.

The addition of the Kinberg and Blomkamp, two big names in the producing arena, increases the chances of the project finding a home at a major studio. For a film that looks to be as epic as “The Leviathan”, it’s going to need one.
