Sly hangs up Rocky’s boots

Sylvester Stallone has played the character of Rocky for over 40 years now, with the original “Rocky” film being released in 1976, and a subsequent 5 “Rocky” films, and 2 “Creed” films – the latest of which has just hit the big screen. Sly’s Rocky has seen the ups and downs of not only boxing, but also life, through competing, training, coaching and becoming a husband and father.

Following the release of “Creed II”, Stallone has launched a video on his Instagram officially retiring the character, making way for the new talent – including Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed.

“Well, this is probably my last rodeo because… I thought Rocky was over in 2006, and I was very happy with that, and then all of the sudden [motioning off-screen to Michael B. Jordan] this young man presented himself and the whole story changed. It went on to a new generation. New problems. New adventures. And I couldn’t be happier, because as I step back, as my story has been told, there’s a whole new world that’s gonna be opening up, for the audience, for this generation.”
