Smell the Bacon? Yep, its Wild Hogs 2!

Sequel to the No.1 comedy already mooted

Haven’t seen it yet, so I can’t comment, but I’ve got the Panadol on stand-by for when I do.

Talking of course about the No.1 film in the states (not that that means much – it’s the second weekend that really matters), “Wild Hogs”. According to SlashFilm.com, Director Walt Becker – now where do I know that name from? . . . Oh yeah, of course, he did a film that just cried for a sequel, “Van Wilder”! – is so stoked with the $38 million the film bought in over the weekend that he’s now considering getting the gang back together for a sequel.

I’m sure he is.

I only see one problem here : John Travolta. Barbarino hates sequels. He hates them. Sure, he did “Be Cool”, but that was an exception; he knew a return bout as ‘Chili Palmer’ was too good to refuse, but he’s knocked back just as many ‘could’ve been successful’ follow-ups merely for the reason that he doesn’t like repeating himself. He was set for “Up Country : The General’s Daughter 2” there for a while and more recently, was the one who pulled the plug on “Grease 3” just before it was about to get off the ground . And If I were a guessing man, I’d say one of the biggest obstacles in getting that “Pulp Fiction” spin-off, “The Vega Brothers”, off the ground is JT, too- He just can’t be too interested, ya know?

But who knows? If Becker lets Kelly Preston have a role in the sequel – that’s his bargaining chip these days, apparently – he may just consider another ride with the “Hogs”. Otherwise… there’s surely another desperate one-time big time who’d join Tim Allen and Martin Lawrence, right? What about Patrick Swayze? Or perhaps Chevy Chase?

At the moment, Travolta says he’d do a sequel. “If it does as well as they think it will do, we probably will,” says Travolta, who plays the leader of the four guys whose middle-aged crises prompt them to head out on a motorcycle road trip. “It was four wonderful talents, four wonderful energies and four wonderful people. I got a big kick out of being with them. I really did.”

Lets ask him the same question in 6 months time and watch him dodge the question. (And nothing against the guy either, because I gotta tell ya, John Travolta is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I swear. The guy is a genuinely great person. I only wish he had a better manager).
