TV spin-off may happen elsewhere
I was really surprised to read that ABC passed on the “Mr and Mrs Smith” series. Those things – series’ based on films – usually always get picked up – even if they’re quickly put out of their misery (remember the TV spin off’s of “Time Cop”, “Uncle Buck”, “The Net”, “Dirty Dancing”, “The Outsiders” or “Animal House”? Nah, didn’t think so). “Buffy”, of course, being a rare exception.
Well, it ain’t over for the series – Jordana Brewster and Martin Henderson take over for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in it – yet. Regency are apparently shopping the series to other networks, hoping someone wants to pick it up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series – which Simon Kinberg, writer of the film, is also onboard – will be pitched to other networks as early as next week.
