Spike Lee is turning his 1985 film “She’s Gotta Have It” into a TV series, says Deadline.
The half-hour series, happening at Showtime, has Lee attached to write and direct the pilot.
The project is taking a new, contemporary look at the characters and will explore Lee’s unique and provocative points of view about race, gender, sexuality, relationships, and the gentrification in Brooklyn.
“She’s Gotta Have It” was produced in the summer of 1985 on a budget of just $175,000.
