Star Wars 3D releases delayed

It likely won’t lead to many boos or hisses, since the films weren’t considered much chop, but Lucasfilm confirmed today that they’re delaying the release of the next “Star Wars 3D” releases, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”.

According to the official Star Wars website, Lucasfilm has opted to instead concentrate on the anticipated “Star Wars : Episode VII”, to be directed by J.J Abrams, rather than dedicate time – at the moment – to the 3D re-releases of the prequels.

Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall’s scheduled release of Star Wars Episodes II and III in 3D. Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy, we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on Star Wars: Episode VII in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date

The two “Star Wars 3D” films were set to be released in theaters later this year. “Star Wars : Episode VII” hits cinemas in 2015.
