Star Wars TV shows on Netflix!?

If this were 1999, and George Lucas still sat on the Lucasfilm loo every lunchtime after scoffing down a spicy bag of Admiral Ackbars, then there’s not a chance in Naboo this would be true. We all know George wasn’t into milking “Star Wars” – and probably a good thing, he did nothing but hinder the brand after 1983’s “Return of the Jedi”. Sure, he gave us the prequels, and at one stage he was very keen on doing a TV series based on the property – scripts were even completed, apparently – but compared to what Disney are now doing with the “Star Wars” brand, Lucas came off rather uninterested in doing much beyond the core Skywalker saga.

With Disney’s new ‘let’s just do it all!’ approach to “Star Wars” – they’ve got a new trilogy, a bunch of standalone spin-off movies, a cartoon series, and more planned – it’s relatively easy to believe that they’re looking to now do a couple of “Star Wars” TV shows, specifically with Netflix.

With Marvel and Netflix teaming up on all these superhero shows (like this year’s “Daredevil”), Disney may have gotten together with the streamer to plot some small-screen Galaxy skirmishes.

According to Cinelinx, there’s talk “of potentially three different [Star Wars] live-action shows for Netflix, in much the same way Marvel has deals in place for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc. “

Makes sense because Netflix are all the rage right now, and soon again, “Star Wars” will be.

Still, consider it a rumour until there’s more to go on.
