Stephen King’s Firestarter gets a director

Stephen King is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment, and just about every book he writes turns into a film. “Firestarter” is one of the next being adapted, and Universal have tapped Faith Akin to direct the sci-fi thriller.

Scott Teems will adapt the script.

Based on King’s classic novel, the story follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.

Universal have been working on this project for a while, so it’s good to see some movement in its production. News via Variety.
